I know, I know. It's not much of a guilty pleasure if everyone likes it, but "Army of Darkness" is so bad -- so obviously bad -- that it rules. Personally, I prefer the comedy of "Army" to the horror of the "Evil Dead" flicks. Bruce Campbell was born to play Ash as a dumbass smartass. And the lines in this movie! It's infinitely quotable. A few of my favorites:
"See this? This is my BOOM stick!"
"Oh that's just what we call pillow talk, baby, that's all."
"Yo, she-bitch! Let's go!"
"Lady, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ask you to leave the store."
Bruce Campbell. Gotta love him. Gotta love the intentional stupidity of the movie(s). It had a sequel or three didn't it?
And the lines. Lots of quotable lines.
Hey, TN1. Shouldn't there also be a series of threads for Cult Shows, or shows that Used to Be popular but only live on in their fanbase nowadays? Little known shows? That sort of thing?
Eg: Man From UNCLE, Space 1999, Thunderbirds, I Spy, Planet of the Apes (yes, it was a TV show, too) etc and so forth?
A fine idea Ittot. How about this -- we can expand the Guilty Pleasures area to talk about TV as well. So all you need to do (if you're so inclined, of course) is to create a new thread within the forum. If you need help with that lemme know and I can get it crackin' for you.
Mac, I hope you catch this one. "Army of Darkness" is on the air. Friday midnight showing on AMC. I guess now that he has a regular part in a prime time show again, Bruce Campbell movies are back in vogue.
So glad to see "Burn Notice" is going to be back! Bruce Campbell lends just enough of his heretofore-known smarminess, even in a side role, to make the show "must see." What a character (and I don't mean that literally) ... anyone registered as a member of the Church of Sub-Genius obviously has a perverse sense of humor. Anyone remember Robert Anton Wilson?
