Since wee tidbits of information on "X-Files 2" have been appearing in recent months, I thought it might make sense to have a thread dedicated to the Movie that May Never Be.
To kick things off, here are a few recent comments made by Chris Carter to DVD Empire: Clarification 1: The status of "X-Files 2" Carter: "It's currently in negotiations, and things are looking positive." Clarification 2: Is there a script? Carter: "There's not a script, but Frank Spotnitz and I have worked out a story. Actually, we did that quite a while ago." You can find more X-Files 2 stuff on Filmfodder's X-Files 2 Spotlight Page. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Senior Editor, Owner, Guy Who Writes the Lost Blog The Fodder Network: Interesting Blogs for Interesting People |

Trust, I like the posting time of 10:13.
I read the interview. I have also taken into account that CC's agent has denied that there are negotiations, that a CTV reporter has said that Fox has confirmed that XF2 is in the works (how far along, we do not know).... XF2 is turning into an X file. Hark, is that the sound of Flukeman swimming????? |

Good catch Xed! I didn't even realize that. Perhaps it's a sign ... a sign of what I don't know, but definitely a sign.
The whole "X-Files 2" busines is turning into a fair represenatation of the series. It starts out with promise and then turns into a tangled mess in the end ------------------------------------------------------------------ Senior Editor, Owner, Guy Who Writes the Lost Blog The Fodder Network: Interesting Blogs for Interesting People |

Trust, you really should get out more....
The argument for a possible XF2 at the XF OS doesn't end. Don't know what the sign is. I think 'Scary Movie 4' is in the works and there were six 'Police Academy' films. XF2 seems like a no-brainer. Negotiations could have stalled for whatever demand, the suits don't like what they see, who knows. Yes, XF started out with a deep, murky, twisted little tale. Unfortunately, we ended in an abyss.... |

LOL, you're not wrong Xed. I've been snowbound for what feels like six months.
I've been thinking about the X-files a lot lately (ties in with that whole "need to get out more" thing I guess) and I continue to be really disappointed with the way it played out. Why? Why did it have to end in such a way? ------------------------------------------------------------------ Senior Editor, Owner, Guy Who Writes the Lost Blog The Fodder Network: Interesting Blogs for Interesting People |

Hope springs eternal...
The thing is, if they get too far removed from the end of the series the movie will turn into: a) a reunion show like the recent "Happy Days" where the much older, grayer cast sat around on stools an reminisced (I watched THAT for about 10 seconds --- BORING!) or it will be b) Mulder and Scully's children because Mulder and Scully will be retired. Baby William can appear -- a grown man with alien powers who will rescue Mom Scully (?) and Dad Mulder (?) from the bad aliens. William's parentage was really never made clear... |

Trust, being snowbound should make a man out of you! Grow hair on your chest! Make you hardy! LOL. Seriously, it gets tiring to see the white stuff on your lawn for six months out of the year. Hello cabin fever! I don't know why the show turned out the way it did, at least in the end. I would say a good chunk of the blame was greed. Fox wanted to make money and would have kept it going til it couldn't. It was probably a show that would realistically have lasted only 7 seasons - like many shows today. Too expensive to keep 'em running. The creative team was tired, the actors were tired, and it showed. Yes, I think it could have ended a whole lot better, with some decent closure and a tie-up of loose ends. The fans invested a lot in the show and were sorely disappointed when the 'I Made This' rolled across the screen for the last time. Of course, we're looking at this three years after it ended. I try to see the positives about the show. It has affected me getting interested in other shows. I'm not sure I'm willing to make the investment - fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice (or more), shame on me. |

Man. I remember being under the impression that the X-Files was automatically to spawn into a series of movies, and that the contracts had already been written out.
Then again, if I'm remembering correctly, the same was said about Star Trek: The Next Generation. |

I think that Variety is just reporting that CC has signed a deal for XF2.

Hi there --
Just popping in cuz I realized it had been a long time since I'd been here! I droppped out of the "Lost" love when the show didn't move forward, the main emphasis was on 'ship and romance, and the plot(s) didn't seem go anywhere or were ultra predictable. (when you can recite word-for-word what a character is going to say next, that's baaad) I'll come by more often. I've been thinking a lot about you all. Julie |
