Everyone else forgot? No one comes here any more?

Happy 2006 to the x-philes.

Trust, what happened to the Stargate board? Just when Canada has almost caught up to the end of the first chunk of Season 9! Smiler

Same old. Living here in the land that winter seems to have forgotten. It's January and it hasn't been -30 yet! Very little snow on the ground. Just lovely! Big Grin

The XF board seems very lonely.

How are things on your side of the continent?

Uhhmm, I'm assuming that's good? I mean, the part about it not yet being -30 degrees yet???? HELP. Wink

Things are fine here, I'm newly pregnant and don't like eating anymore, which is weird but a rather effective diet. Eeker And I'm studying for my boards, which is taxing. No real winter here, either. Perhaps a couple of days around freezing.

And yeah, it does look quiet here. Where is everybody else? Have they gone into hiding?

Happy New Year!

Hi all! Sorry it's been so long. Life just gets so busy blah, blah, blah.... But I finally figured out how to get the regular reply button to work! (had to hit control first-I think it has something to do with my pop-up blocker)
If my purple happy new year doesn't work, I apologize.
So now that I am here, I have to rush off to work! But I wanted to say Happy Belated Birthday to xed-out (december) and also to XQQ (just a few days ago)
and maybe...we could all meet here tomorrow night and celebrate the Forum's 8th birthday as well as Trust's 31st? Anyone? Now all I have to do is remember to show up!
Happy Birthday Trust and to the Forum and again, my apologies for being a no-show for so long. I will catch you up on stuff soon. Love, cassandra

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TRUST!!!!!!!

I have trouble remembering my own family members' birthdays, but for some reason, I'll never forget yours Roll Eyes Hope 31 is good to you -- it sounds like it is. And filmfodder is amazing--worth registering with groupee for (grin).

Cassandra, you are such a faithful friend when I've been the prodigal group member. Thanks for not giving up. It looks like you are enjoying returning to full-time work after full-time motherhood, just as I'm making the opposite switch! And from the sound of the summer/fall posts, you're enjoying it. Please say hi to cass jr. and see if she remembers me--hubby too.

Xed, so good to hear you here too, as well as JM, DC, argonauta, govt, trust, the old gang. I told hubby we're just going to have to work our way through seasons 1-4 at some point when we get to where we can stay awake to watch tv again. But just as toddler #1 is getting to the really easy stage, we're paperchasing again for a little sister (again from China)--so we have about a year to squeeze in a couple of seasons of tv watching before we get back to the joy of those really sleepless new baby nights.

Sorry to have popped in last spring only to disappear again. Life was great, but really overwhelming, as a new adoptive single working mom, with a toddler catching every new germ on the continent, and a fiance and a wedding and a job that required a lot of wrapping up, and then a move that involved trying to take an office and two medium-sized households and fit them into one medium-sized house. I don't think hubby or I let the stress show when we were around our daughter, but I know it was getting to me then.

Flash forward six months and life is so much better. XQQ Jr. is "two and a quarter," very verbal (she was singing all three verses of Away in a Manger at the top of her lungs recently, says proud mama), and still just loves life, loves people, loves mama, daddy, Chester-kitty and Chloe-kitty. I'm loving being able to give her what I know she needs from me. I'm only teaching one class at the local community college while she's at preschool, and I am learning to cook again. I have to -- we live way out in the country and the nearest takeout sushi is 30 minutes away. I won't get mushy except to say y'all would really like hubby and I'd love for you to meet him; this marriage fits like a pair of comfortable shoes.

So that's the update. I'll stop by tomorrow to celebrate the forum anniversary. Cassandra, Xed,trust, everybody, how is life these days--sports included?

XQQ

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Has it really been 8 years? EIGHT YEARS?! I was 23 when I first "met" many of you. Now, I'm 31. Oh my. I've been interacting with you guys longer than with some of my family members Wink

Even though the numbers are fewer and the conversations less constant, it's nice to know that people still stop by from time to time. I know a number of folks have jumped on the "Lost" bandwagon with me, so it's great to be cranking along with a different show, but seeing the same enthusiasm.

Lately, I've been nostalgic for the "X-files." I'm not sure what it is -- maybe it's just because it's been so long since we watched Mulder and Scully. Bottom line: It's time for "X-Files 2." In fact, as a birthday gift, both for me and for the forum, I think Fox and 1013 should get off their asses and announce this project Wink

Trust, you won't get rid of us that easily! Wink

Happy Birthday. 30 is the new 20. 31 the new 21. Smiler

XQQ Married! wow- that is wonderful news! I am very happy for you.
I remember how hard it was to find time to sit at the computer with a toddler running around (harder than with cats...) but if you want to email me and catch up sometime, write to me at LOU1478@hotmail.com
As for my latest news..cassandra jr. is in her 2nd year of college and has just been accepted into the BA theatre program. And yes, I am really enjoying working full-time. Most people my age are planning their retirement or are burned out and sick of working. My enthusiasm is probably really annoying, but I can't help it! A lot of what is going on in education and child-rearing these days can get me feeling pretty negative, but mostly I just love being around kids. Every day is different and I am never bored! (that was also true when I was a stay-at-home mom) Smiler
Sports- I have been watching lots of hockey this season. (the NY Rangers, of course) Baseball- I still can't believe Johnny Damon is a Yankee- and he looks so weird all clean-shaven and with short hair.

Trust- 8 years....my daughter was in 5th or 6th grade, govtlawyer's a year or 2 older. I wonder what happened with her wedding plans? Anyone hear anything? I don't watch Lost so I might be missing out on regular news from some old friends here. It's funny, but I have been getting strong XFiles nostalgic feelings also. I think it was because SciFi did a mini-marathon this past Monday (including Musings of CSM- on MLK day!) Tonight I saw the last minute of an old episode and I thought "I think that's Little Green Men" and it was! It's not like Buffy, where I've seen every episode so many times that my daughter and I play Name That Episode by quoting lines. But I think a marathon of my favorites from seasons 1-5 would be a great way to spend a snow day! I just have to buy seasons 1 and 5! (and it would help if we got some normal January weather!)

I was just imagining us all rushing to post here if an XFs 2 movie ever came out. Now that would be something.

xed-out: hope you had a nice birthday. sorry I didn't get here in December. Thanks for being here and keeping up with the change of seasons.

JM- did I read somewhere here that you are having a baby? Are you staying in the US then? I think I must have missed lots of updates...

govtlawyer?? have you been here? Are you still the Wedding Planner? (or has it been so long that I missed the wedding?!)

Hi Pegasus! How is life on the Left Coast?

argonauta- did you have a good time at Diseny World? (so long ago) I am sorry that I never emailed you. Have you been to the 50th stuff at DL? My daughter worked at WDW for a short time, (a year ago, to be exact) but it didn't work out. She learned some valuable life lessons and I did too! Hope your family is ok and that you are finding some time for yourself. We have had many issues with aging parents lately and I know how draining that can be.

Hi DC! I bet you are keeping everyone on their toes over on the Lost board. I am sorry to be missing all that. BTW, I remember you having strong preferences for certain types of beer, but I can't remember if you were a scotch drinker or not. I was at a very fancy wedding in November and am now a big fan of "The" Macallan.

Well, sorry to be so long-winded. (some things never change) Miss you guys! And again, happy 8th anniversary to all, including those who haven't been here for a long while-syxx, gategirl (omg, I can't remember your xfiles name!) mountainphile, walker, BBF, wolfie, dante, luvinkrycek, lovinscully (I only remember he was a Mets fan), blue somebody (from France?), yellow.bug...?, searchin or something like that, there was a mom from VA, and who can forget...GL2! My memory is spotty at best here...I hope you guys can remember screen names and people I've forgotten or gotten wrong.
love,
cassandra

X-ed -- when I turned off the computer last night I remembered that I'd wanted to wish you a belated happy birthday too! Who knows; perhaps someday we'll get up to your part of the Great White North for vacation or something. It would be great to meet up with the forum member farthest from me!

Cassandra, look for an email from me sometime the next week; Trust, fill us in on how wise you feel at 31 now; and everyone else, feel the love!

XFMovie2 -- Can't wait!

Heidy Ho, Neighbors!

Aside from the political news, LOST is the only TV I make a point to tune in to see. This morning someone was complaining that LOST was being dragged out, the tease, etc. and I commented that an XFiles fan would find LOST to be a pleasure/treasure. Then it occurred to me - FILMFODDER (!), that's where I'll find the best LOST discussion board on the 'net. Lo and behold, Mac has found a show worthy of his pen and witticisms. It's no exaggeration to say that his XFiles reviews are the best reviews of any show I have ever read and enjoyed.

And how are you all? I celebrated my 44th birthday a week ago. Training for a marathon (my first!) and getting in shape for triathlon season to start in the Spring. I'm selling my home in Tampa and moving to Pinehurst NC around May/June this year. Big year for me!

walker-Happy Belated Birthday! We are a mere 10 years apart, although I won't be 54 til April. The older I get, the more surreal my age seems.
I am very impressed that you are going to do a marathon. I have a friend at work who is going to do a marathon in Miami at the end of this month. She is 32, from Japan, has been working here for the last two years, and has been busy doing all this stuff before she has to go back home. She's seen more of the USA in the last year than I have seen in my entire life!

gategirl's XFs name....ITTOT! (I remembered last night right before I went to sleep!) I can't believe I couldn't remember it. (I guess that's when my age seems more real than surreal...*sigh*)

and now back to watching the Rangers and Penguins-the Pens just tied it up. grrr

for syxx: GO STEELERS!!

Hi all! Glad to see so many of the ol' gang gathered for the forum b'day. It sure gets quiet here sometimes. I follow the Lost forum these days but don't post there much - too many people and too many theories - a bit overwhelming - but a great deal of fun!

I'd only try a marathon on horseback ... I took it up again this summer, trail riding in the Santa Monica Mountains.

(My nagging Lost question is ... where the heck is Desmond?)
