A week has gone by, the season has changed, and our little group has been very quiet. I hope it is because everyone is very busy with the good things in their lives and that no one is going through hard times.
I will try to get here once a week-probably the weekends, unless I go away- because with my new job I am very tired in the evenings.
In my own news, I am loving my job. Cassandra jr. is having a great time at college, but I think she may be getting a tatoo today and I am trying not to freak out.
Hope to hear from others sometime soon. I hope our group can keep going; it would be sad to see it end.
love, cassandra
p.s. Hapy Fall! (if you are in the path of all the hurricanes, then it would also be Safe Fall!)

wolfie- my jaw literally dropped when I saw your name! Nice to "see" you. As for feeling old- it's one of those things that takes you by surprise sometimes. My dad and I were talking about how it doesn't matter how old you get chronologically- I mean, imagine how old *he* feels having 2 daughters over 50!- inside of us there is always someone who believes they are younger, in spite of birthdays and the aging of our children. Now when I look at someone who is 80 I wonder what age they think they are inside.
Anyhow, thanks for posting! It gets lonely around here sometimes.

Wolfie, long time no hear from!

And Cassandra, I do try and come by just about every day, to look and see, if not to post. But, everyone is getting older, doing more, being busy...

Hey everyone!

Sorry for my tardiness. I've been pretty busy working on other parts of the site. Filmfodder is starting to take on a life of its own, which is very exciting since a lot of work has gone into this little bugger through the years.

My big development is that I left my job recently (yeah, "left" -- no layoffs this time!). I'm doing some consulting work as well as some teaching. It's great. I don't know how long it will last, but I'm enjoying it while it does!

On the entertainment front, I'm not sure what TV shows will fill up my fall schedule. Buffy's gone. Angel is gone. 24 doesn't kick in till January. I think Lost has some potential, but I'm waiting for my TiVo to pick that one up. Beyond that, I'm stumped. Good thing there's always baseball and football!

Hi everyone,

I do pop by all the time - just haven't posted.

I upgraded to DSL Internet service about a week or so ago. Still trying to configure a few things on my computer (like my email).

Have checked out a few new series and seem to be sticking to a couple so far: 'Jack and Bobby' and 'Lost'.

I also made my first Canadian national television appearance on the weekend on a show called 'AskCBC'. It was a Q and A show asking the CBC (in case you don't know - one of our national TV networks) almost anything. On a lark, I submitted a few questions. To my surprise, one was selected. It had to deal with their plans to address the creative drain that sends Canadian talent to the US.

Other than that, summer is pretty much over. Half the leaves have dropped already and it's pretty nippy.

Wolfie, nice to *see* you.

Cassandra, best wishes on your new job. Hopefully your daughter will get a small tattoo - something she can like for now, live with in the future, and won't be too expensive to remove somewhere down the road.

Greetings all.

It's been a while, but while watching the new show "Lost", I was reminded of this group, and so decided to stop by. Reviewing the last few posts, it seems like I'm not the only one who thinks this show has potential to both stick around and be interesting. It also is pretty clearly going to feature a scifi element. That would make it the first new hour-long scifi drama on TV since, hmmm, what was the name of that show again?

I read in the paper that 'Lost' was the big ratings winner amongst the new shows to premier this season. Mac ought to consider opening up a message board here for 'Lost'. Catch the next wave while it's forming. If they continue to peel the onion slowly, there will even be room for lots of speculation and deconstruction, just like that show that was really popular in the '90s. Gimme a minute. It'll come to me.

On the personal front, Mrs. DC was in a nasty highway traffic accident last month. This has been the central fact around which life has revolved for the last month or so. Mrs. DC is expected to fully recover, but she was a week in the hospital and has yet to return to work due to physical limitations that make walking arduous and sitting at a desk impossible.

On the silver lining front, the person responsible for the accident (without dispute) is an executive with a Fortune 500 company, and as you all know, Mr. DC is a lawyer (i.e. no giving 1/3 of the legal remuneration to the PI lawyer). If you must be sitting in your car when some moron in a Lincoln Navigator turns it into scrap metal, this is the preferable position to be in to maximize your compensation for that event. Mrs. DC, to while away her recouperation time, has already come up with a considerable list of ways to spend her hard-earned future damages award.

I'd go on about other things, but I'm sure the 5 billion word limit is still strictly enforced.

DC: Given the relative inactivity around here, the 5 billion word limit has been doubled to 10 billion. Fire away.

That's horrible news about your wife, but I'm relieved to hear a full recovery is underway. The forthcoming "benefits" are good too.

I like your idea for a "Lost" board. Anyone else want to take part? I'll definitely jump into the fray, but I'd like to make sure we've got 3-5 people who'd be willing to offer occasional conjecture. Any takers?

And you're right, DC -- "Lost" does feel like another show I remember watching long, long ago ...

Sure -- hubby taped the opening episode last night for me (but missed the first 15 minutes due to a tape snafu), and I might just start watching it. Still have to see the tape, tho.

DC, so sorry to hear about your wife's accident; I hope she isn't getting too bored in the hospital.

Allrighty, I've got a couple of administrator things I want to run by you guys:

1. The new "Lost" Forum is up and running. I think this show has some serious potential and I'd like to get this forum cranking with conversation. I'd really appreciate any help you guys can offer. It could become X-files-esque.

2. What do you guys think of changing the chronology of the threads? Meaning, the threads would display with the oldest post at the beginning and the newer posts underneath. This is how it's typically done on most forums. I'm beginning to think the backwards nature of the Filmfodder forums is a bit of a hindrance on new visitors. I'm open to suggestions though.

I jumped into the Lost forum.

A long time ago, I remarked about the backwards chronology, but no one jumped on that bandwagon. Personally, I think you'd be better off going with standard formatting on this one.

DC: Just shot a response back at you in the Lost forum. It's good to get back into this ...

I agree with the chronology. Here's what I'm going to do: I'm going to switch the view and see if there are any major problems. If anyone has issues with it, drop me a line directly at mac@filmfodder.com.

I just checked my profile. What the heck, right? Holy cow, I joined Aug 8, 2000. Over FOUR years ago -- and I've only made about 243 or so posts!

I'll also be talking on the Lost board, but it's so darned entertaining to read Trust and Deep Cover and the others go at it again...wow, like old times. All we needed was another show with good conspiricy potential to get the juices flowing again!

Oh, so that's YOU doing this. You made me all confused - I've been searching for the controls to put the newest up on top of the page, and couldn't find the controls! I thought it was me! rofl.

I guess I'll get used to it.

Oh, hey, did I mention I've got a Live Journal now? I'm posting journal entries from my six month trip through Nepal, India and Thailand from nine years back, just after I turned (gasp) 30.

I've also got some book reviews I'm starting to churn out -- just read The Stand by Steven King. Reviewed an Ursula Le Guin book. Got a PD James Adam Dalgliesh mystery on the blocks now. I finished reading it, just have to think about it some.

Trust - Congrats are due the Red Sox .... grrr .... they played a good game.

C'mon Angels!

I just realized the forum is stragely well represented among the playoff teams, if anyone cares.

In no particular order:
Boston - TN1
Yankees - Cassandra
Twins - Govtlawyer
Braves - Walker
Dodgers - Pegasus and Itot
Angels - argo

Coincidence? I think not.

Incidentally, Cass is the only Yankees fan I've never wanted to throttle. That's saying something from a die-hard Sox fan

Oh, no no no -- don't lump me in with the CA teams. I may live here, but my heart belongs to the old Bahstahn teams.

Yeah, that's what I'm talkin' about Ittot.

Related topic: I'm always amazed at the number of Sox fans who show up at games on the road. From what I can tell, only the Sox, the Yankees and the Cardinals have this type of rabid fan base.

Along those lines, these teams also seem to lure new fans into the fold. For example, my Dad grew up in Detroit and was a Tigers fan for most of his life. Now, after living in Mass. for 20-plus years, he's a Sox fan. I could never imagine switching from the Sox.

When it comes to road fans, you've got to add the Cubs to the list. There are thousands of Cubs fans in the stands everywhere they play. Definately a national fan base.

They also effectively have three home parks, as the percentage of Cubs fans in the stands for games at Busch will be roughly 50%, and Cubs fans greatly outnumber Brewers fans at Miller Park.

My god. How could I forget the Cubs? Their fans are my brothers in angst.

The Sox can count Tampa as a home park. Over the last few years, Sox fans have been way more vocal during games at Tropicana Field.

LOST! Yeah, I was lost - couldn't figure out where the posts went until I realized that their order was changed. Trust, you shouldn't do that to people who are on the edge of sanity .

Is there a quick way to get to the bottom of the page???
