Come out and support the global effort for peace! The Orlando/Winter Park community is proud to be part of this inspirational festival, being held from September 22-27, 2009. Here is some general background information.

Information taken from: http://www.peacefilmfest.org/

The Global Peace Film Festival was established to utilize the power of the motion picture to further the goal of peace on earth. With a mission to expand the definition of peace beyond anti-war, ideology, activism or specific causes, the Global Peace Film Festival films and events suggest a more personal message as reflected in the daily lives of individuals and communities the world over.

The GPFF presents films from around the world and global discussions that highlight the power of this extraordinary medium as it relates to new peace issues. See films from around the world, attend educational panels, and hear from local activists about their work. Many filmmakers will be on hand to answer questions after the screening of their films.

The GPFF is also host to four discussion panels held throughout the week. All panel discussions will take place at Rollins College - Bush Science Building Room 120. Topics range from:

“What is Peace?” that includes a dialogue among local Imams and Rabbis (Wednesday, September 23, 4pm)

“Making Films that Make a Difference” with the filmmakers of the upcoming film “Letters to God” that filmed in and around Orlando (Thursday, September 24, 3:30pm)

"Peace Pitch", a discussion of award-winning filmmaker Sylvia Caminer’s work-in-progress documentaries including “Project Tanzania - A Journey of Friendship” (Friday, September 25, 4pm)

“Media Day of Dialogue”, a look at the issue of press coverage and the health care reform debate (Saturday, September 26, 10am - 1pm)

In addition to these panel discussions, there will be a Interfaith Dialogue. Local religious leaders from different faiths will join Matt Flickstein in a discussion of his film With One Voice to examine spiritualism as it relates to peace. (Sunday, September 27, 2:30pm in Bush Auditorium, Rollins College).
