I was thinking that mayb someone from lost, like a writer or someone who was connected with the show, was secretly using this website. perhaps gaining info from fans, or mayb even creating fake threads trying to through people off. your thoughts??

I think the creators/producers/writers of Lost wouldn't spend a nanosecond of time amongst us. We Lost junkies (yes, including myself here...) are a sad bunch at the end of the day. Apparently some of us have become hyper-paranoid as well, lol. With all the clues and Easter eggs they leave for us to find, I can't imagine that they would try to 'throw us off' or mislead us. But hey, I do respect your paranoia. Wink

Shakingthetree is right....we are paranoid. I often finding myself coming home at the end of the day and saying, "shit, lost isn't on tonight." Which brings me to these sites. This is pretty sad

Aaaah, good theory. We know they must read them, the way some of our discussions suddenly come up on the show. Could be we should trustno1... Wink

Maybe the reason some theories come up on the show is because we know the show so god damn well that some things we assume actually do happen.

None of the writers would visit these forums. We are too busy writing the show so don't worry about it. (oops, did I say "we"?)

I don't believe the writers read much online stuff. The fact that some of the theories, plot details, ideas, etc. that we talk about here soon appear in the series is almost certainly due to probability. there's a lot of us and a lot of good ideas. For example, a month or so ago I started a thread to discuss the observation that no one on the island appeared to want to be rescued. I asked---where were the signal fires, why didn't anyone cut down trees to spell "HELP" or "SOS"? . Hmmm...last weeks show was devoted in great part to this idea. Do I beleive the writers saw this thread and in several weeks time wrote and filmed this ep.? Naaaah. It's more likely that, instead, we are the proverbial monkeys, as in "If you have enough monkeys banging randomly on typewriters, they will eventually type the works of William Shakespeare."

I disagree with you bellnier. Writers for television are like advertisers in that they are constantly checking the pulse of the target audience. Their goal is ratings and keeping the viewers interested. Also, recently many viewer questions have been answered that seem too much for a coincidence. i.e., SOS sign, seeing more island extras, Hurley still being fat, Dharma food, AL's comment on the Losties "forgetting" all that has happened to them. These issues have been addressed and I think were written into the story as a result of the viewers wanting answers IMO.

Ok let’s figure this out using the good old Anagram trick.

If Ethan Rom is “Other Man”

basasslostman44 =”A MAN’s LOST BASS” or “SATAN LAMB’s SOS” or “BLAST MASON ASS”
shakingthetree =”A GREEK THEN THIS” or “ERASE THE KNIGHT” or “GATHER KEEN SITH”
LOST rock star108 =”CROSSTALK ROT” or “STAR CORK SLOT” or “SCROTAL STORK”
LostLady = “OLD SALTY” or “STAY DOLL” or “LAYS DOLT”
Texasrobster =”BAR OTTER’s SEX” or “EX’s BREAST ROT” or “SEX TART’s ROBE”
Bellnier =”RIB ELLEN” or “BEER NILL” or “REBEL NIL”
Stevepoland =”SLAVED TO PEN” or “TAPED NOVELS” or “ANT LOVED ESP”
joshanda =”A SAD JOHN” or “HANSO adj.” or “A DNA JOSH”
pagecarl ="CLAP RAGE" or "A CRAP LEG" or "CLEAR GAP"

Texas, I absolutely agree with you. Film people are absolutely anal about their status. They live and die by their reputation, not year by year but more like minute by minute. I can't swear that the apparent answers to fan questions on the show are based on forum posts. It is a sure thing, however, that there is somebody assigned to reading these posts and reporting back. Of course, directors and producers are not reading. Their egos are generally to big and their time constraints to tight.

More uncontrollable laughter. I can totally skip Pilates tonight. Texas, I was kind of fond of the EX's BREAST ROT. Although it wouldn't look nearly as schnazzy on a robe.

And poor LOST rock star - I have SCROTAL STORK burned permanently into my brain.

What fools we've been...joshanda is the 'other' that has infiltrated this group...her (his?) anagram has 'Hanso' in it.

My point is this: there is not an infinite number of plot possibilities out there, TV and movie writers are not Einstein-smart and, as a collective brain, I think we're just as smart. It dosen't surprise me then that some of our predictions/complaints are eventually addressed in the show.

On the other hand, it wouldn't surprise me if the production company did have a few interns that scour the blogs, magazines, etc. to see what's out there.

Lost is not a very good vehicle for on-screen product placement ('cept in the flashback scenes)...this must be disappointing for the sponsors.

BTW, does anyone know the production schedule? Have they already filmed the entire season? Thanks.

Read it just tonight before coming on here...

ABC spokesman Jeff Fordis said there would be no disruptions for "Lost." The season finale is being filmed this week and production is scheduled to be completed by May 5.

The "disruption" refers to Michelle Rodriguez' stint in jail. She chose jail over community service for her DUI, but it's only for five days. Poor BAY-BEE! Razzer

Production staff and writers can and have visited fan messageboards. They know that feedback can be good or bad, and that it can be instant. I don't know if they have visited here. There are lots of messageboards and I suppose that it is possible.

As an example, Aaron Sorkin was rumoured to have visited and posted on the TV Without Pity boards for 'The West Wing'. Some X Files staffers have popped by the show's Official Board (and other messageboards) throughout the show's run to gauge reaction.

If the show goes on for several more years, it will become increasingly more expensive to produce. You may then notice more product placements. However, the typical viewer is quite savvy and finds them a turn-off.

I don't know. I often find myself jonesin' for some Dharma flakes come Thursday morning, and a Dharma butter and jelly sandwich for lunch. Wink Big Grin

On a more serious note, we did a major movie starring an actor whose name rhymes with schmom schmooze a few years ago that had tons of product placement in it. The total sum of all the product placement items only offset .003% (yes, that is an exact figure) of the production budget. Product placement is kinda like DVD sales - they're nice to have, but they're not going to make or break a high budget production.

All i know is that if they don't answer some questions, the show will go absolutely no where, except for into more questions, and soon nothing will make sense

They're just another way to market something. And the audience is captive. They can't fast-forward through the commercial.

And I had no idea about the size of your ego.

Seriously, there are a lot of young kids reading these boards. Some may not really know a lot about how the world works.
