For months I have gone without posting. Just checking the site every few days to see what new diabolitry is being propagated here. The new theories are good for the most part, and the discussion has remained spirited and intelligent(mostly) as always.
The show seemed to be revving the motorcycle in preperation for a record setting shark jump, but what has leaked out about upcoming episodes seems to belay that notion.
However, using the special T.V. series prognosticating computer that we keep here at the H.O.T.W. labs, we are unable to see the series sustaining momentum past year three. The computer is right 9 out of 10 times. It was wrong about Two and a Half Men, but really, nobody could have predicted that.
So enjoy this season's finale, and buy a DVR for next season, because it may be your final chance to obsess about fictitional people on a fictitional island facing a shadowy foe.
Of course, this is just my opinion, I could be wrong.

So Bully, just a question. Can we assume that now that you have gotten this out of your system you will again remain quiet for another several months? Wink

So, is that an acronym or an anagram?

My guess is W.H.O...gives a shit about the future?! I'm all about enjoying the present. Wink

Sure I do - but I'm not going to let worrying about the future disturb my present happiness.

Each day takes care of itself, and presents enough problems of it's own without brining in the issues that are sure to arise tomorrow.

*stepping off my soapbox*

My real issues is with the so called magic see-the-future TV box. Smiler Do they make one for relationships??

Pagecarl. Jeez...You run your jaw over your baffling contributions and then make comments about Bully's? What a hypocritical ass clown.

Bully is right. The show has no concept of what it is anymore. Chort it has become...chort and chankings.

Bully, I think you are wrong though. I can hear the engine revving even now as the expected shark jumping is setting up to occur. I think it may have a 150 shot of nitros in it to expedite the jump even.

I'll not buy the DVD. I'll not enjoy the finale. In fact, I am doing what I can to erase this foul experience from my memory. This season has been such a colossal waste of my time I will be glad it is over. I started out enjoying the show, only to be disappointed with non-endings each week. I find it hard to subscribe to the idea these people are not part some sort of mass hallucination project. Or, at the very least, are Dharma people themselves and just don't know it. C'mon...there are far too many coincidences for this to not be orchestrated.

Anyway, the show has gotten out of hand. Too many unaswered questions. Even the writers admit vast questions will never be answered. Why? Because even they don't know what they are doing. When they can write characters in (AL) and then write characters out (AL) because of real world business (well known to be a bitch on the set and a drunk off) the show has gone from a show with promise to a soap opera...languishing on and on with constant character changes, script rewrites and crap storylines to keep you the gullible viewer (a more mookish, nighttimve version of a deprived midwestern housewife living vicariously through the characters) glued to the set to see what happens next.

I'm with Bully. The show has tanked. Go watch 24 or the next season of Battlestar if you want quality programming.

Lost will jump. No doubt.

"Have you come for the cure?"

Sparticus,
You seem like an intelligent man. Last year, when you were a regular contributer to this forum, you had some great insight. But my question is, if you loathe this show so deeply, why don't you stop watching it? And more importantly, if this show is such a waste of your time, why are you wasting even more by reading this message board?

Very good question.

I will stop watching it. When this season ends I'll make the break stick by not bothering with the show next season. Should be easy, given the vast amount of time that elapses between seasons (and often episodes).

I too have wondered about the show sometimes, but I have hoped that it will change...and I continue to hope. I've invested too much time to this show to just cut my losses and move on. I don't know if I would anyway, I have been hooked.

I think people who say that questions haven't been answered haven't been paying attention. We've learned more this season than we did last season by a wide margin, and if you go back over the entire season and look at what happened in each episode you would see that.

Yes, each answer brings more questions. What else would keep the fucking show going? The reason why Lost is so great is because it keeps people guessing with mysteries. If we knew everything right now, then why would we watch the show? What possible reason would we have for anticipating each new episode?

To be honest, I'm getting sick and tired of explaining this to people. It makes me sad that a lot of folks don't have the patience to enjoy a good mystery. Everyone wants things immediately or close to it. Sure, 24 wraps things up in each season. This isn't 24. This is Lost. Lost is going to be an ongoing story for however long it runs, and it doesn't have the room that 24 has to be able to wrap up each scenario neatly at the end of each season.

If you must be content with mysteries unraveling though, bear in mind that from the time this season began we......

. Found out what was in the hatch.
. Found two other hatches.
. Found a map to the other hatches.
. Found out what happened to the tail section.
. Found out what happened to Claire when she was with Ethan.
. Found out that Alex is alive.
. Gained firm ideas about the Others.
. Found out that the island is home to scientific research.
. Linked the Others to said scientific research as well as a few other happenings.
. We witnessed a lockdown and found out where a lot of the supplies come from.
. Shannon died.
. Sun is pregnant.
. Libby and Hurley are headed somewhere.
. Charlie and Claire are not.
. Eko started building a church.
. Sawyer started building a gun shop.
. Charlie started building angst.
. There is a love triangle building and ready to blow.
. The island is a healing area for paralysis and life-threatening illness at least.
. We found out how Jack got divorced.
. We found out why Kate was on the run.
. We found out about Locke and Helen and what became of his father.
. We found out about Hurley and the institution.
. We found out how Hurley knows Libby.
. We found out how Sayid knows torture.
. We found out how Sun and Jin met and how Sun learned English.
. We will find out what Michael saw.
. We will find out what happened to Walt.
. We will find out what the button is all about.
. We will find out what the map is about.
. We will find out about Desmond.
. We are going to get a big revelation in the finale that will drive the third season.

What more do you want, really? What more could you possibly ask for? Do you want the final answer smacking you in the face right now? Would you like to know why the plane crashed and what DHARMA is doing and how the Lost people will get off the island? Why? Why would you possibly want to know now, when there would be absolutely nothing left in the way of mystery thereafter. I am perfectly happy with things being revealed one bit at a time. It keeps me wanting more. Before this season, we had no clue what the island was even about. Now we have a much larger scope. I don't understand how this could not possibly satisfy anyone.

I don't think so. I think the coincidences might be the biggest red herring of them all.

Those coincidences happen everyday to each one of us but generally they go unnoticed. Some guy hit my car the other day and left a note on the windsheild. I called him, we chatted and discovered that he is a Crazy Horse fan and so am I. That he plans to tour the western US and visit his uncle's grave in a small town in the southwest and I am moving 30 minutes away from the cemetary.
Coincidences everywhere. I don't think they mean a thing on Lost.

I think what some people want is for LOST to have been a movie, not a TV show.

But you know, it is what it is and I am enjoying it and have no beef with how it is progressing.

Spartacus, I agree with Jack's Girl. If you don't like the show why are you waiting for next season/ Stop watching it NOW. Don't watch the last four episodes at all.

And if you are having trouble understanding what I write, I can see that. Just refer me to those posts and I will re-write then using smaller words. Or, once again in support of jack's Girl, stop signing on to this forum or at least simply skip over anything I write as I will now do with any of your posts. It is really simple.

Ugotta - I have resorted to flame. elp me be nicer like you.

Try wearing mittens. It's harder to type that way. And ugotta let a lot of things go. A LOT of things. So many times lately I've scribed a double-edged, backwards compliment that my old self would be so proud of, only to click the little "X" in the upper right corner, sending my work into internet oblivion. *Sigh* Only 10 more hours and we'll have plenty more to talk about, I'm sure. Wow. All those questions answered.

Face it. Lost sucks and you, Pen, are hooked like a junkie to heroin. Go ahead and justify how much time you've wasted on a so-called mystery show with a silly list. Many of the supposed findings you state were postulated by others in this very forum and were only reinforced when finally shown in an episode.

If you are so sick and tired of explaining patience in this program to people, you're going to need to find another line of work. I'm confident there are others like myself who never post who are sick and tired of the show dragging on. You going to explain it to tthem too? Frankly, most of them could give a shit less if it's a decent mystery or not. What they want is continuity in entertainment and to not have their time wasted when plopped down in front of the TV.

Sure, it's not 24. Few shows could possibly be as good as 24. Lost is certainly not that good. Enjoy this last season.

By the way, I didn't watch tonite's episode. I'm sure you did. Hope it was worth your time and energy. Hope more of you list questions were answered.

Pagecarl. Don't bother trying to be nice. It's clear you can't be, otherwise you wouldn't have been a jerk in the first place. So don't overwork yourself on my account. Mook.

Actually, I haven't wasted any time at all because I enjoy mysteries and I love the thrill of learning new things as the story unfolds. It's not just Lost either, it's a lot of books, shows, games, movies, none of which I'm sure you have any experience with because they'd probably just leave you whining and crying about how it doesn't fit your mold of how a story should be told. I guess with impatience comes arrogance. And backpedalling apparently, since you yourself said you were angry cause questions weren't answered and I just gave you a big list of ones that were and now you're changing your tune to say "Oh, well we guessed that would happen." I guess you must not be able to predict what will happen in 24. Here's a hint: he saves the world at the end of the season. But I guess that's your mold, where everything is tied up in a neat little bow. I do hope you enjoy talking about it with all your 24 buddies. You seem like the kind of person who thinks he has a lot to say.

Really simple Spartacus, don't watch and don't bully those of us who really enjoy a unique concept with great writers who always manage to raise the bar just when we think the show is getting too contrived.I I used to love House but the last few have been awful.Other than Two and a Half men and Lost I think network tv sucks. Give me the Sopranos, Big Love,Deadwood,Larry David any day.I wish Lost could go on HBO. No breaks, great continuity and I bet no loss of viewers due to boredom of waiting for four weeks

Spartacus, if you hate the show & the forum so much, why are you still here? I can answer that: you pretend to have a huge ego, knowing everything about entertainment, good writing, & superior analysis. In reality, you are completely insecure. You build yourself up by attacking everyone and everything. If you had anything worthwhile to do with your life, you never would have returned to this forum. Anyone with an ounce of intelligence & creativity finds enjoyable pursuits; they don't perseverate on destructive activities. You are pathetically transparent.

the unmitigated disaster that the show has become is clearly revealed when approached from a Zen standpoint.

"Seek not the answer, but merely to understand the question"

the impossibility of this reveals the show as an inverted paradigm with no logic or plan
