Definately for real. The direct link to the site is on the ABC website, and I learned about it from an "Oceanic airlines commercial" on ABC.

I followed the Find815 ARG. Easiest way to follow up is to check out LostPedia. It gives a detailed synopsis of what was found in each phase.

Also, check out the "Missing Pieces" on the ABC website. Missing Piece #13 is mindblowing! They put that one up the week of the premiere.
