Did I miss a few minutes of the episode? Not sure if anyone touched on this. But I was annoyed that Michael safely returned home and kept silent. He could have announced to everyone that he's Michael Dawson, survivor of Oceanic 815. There are more survivors on an island. They're names are..... but he just stayed silent. I think the writers owe an explanation. The Island kept him silent seems like a stretch. This flaw bugs me.

No flaw. Michael murdered two people on that island. That tells us an important thing about Michael: He doesn't give a rat's ass about the other survivors. Not only did he commit murder to get Ben out of jail, he betrayed his compadres and compromised their safety by freeing Ben . . . and then he and his son left the island.
Michael doesn't want it generally known that he is a murderer and a traitor.
What better way to redeem yourself than by helping the survivors, just as he's trying to keep them alive by sabotaging the boat. As for the murders, a cover up would work. Ana Lucia and Libby? They're unaccounted for...must have died in the crash. I see the selfish point....He'd rather kill himself and relieve himself of misery than helping the survivors.
You would think Michael would see by now that Ben is manipulating him. Really, what proof does Michael have that Widmore is after the island and will kill the Losties? A couple of pictures and a couple of copies of papers which anyone could fake? Regardless, what fate does Michael think that Ben intends for the Losties? Thus far it has not been good.
Michael is a weak sister who cannot be trusted, hence Sayid putting his cards in the captain's hands by turning him in. Given the captain's reaction, however, we might find that he knew about Michael already.
Michael's main objective has always been to keep his son safe. In the early days of learning about Michael he was down about his ex-wife having custody of him. His whole being is wrapped up in being a good father to his motherless son. I can see that once he arrived back in the U.S. he would want to make certain that Walt would never speak of his real identity which is why he told him that he killed Libby and Ana lucia. Maybe he thought it would make Walt more bonded to him but obviously the opposite happened. I think that Walt knows more about the the importance of Libby to the island and that his father really screwed up. I think Michael has remorse now only because Walt turned his back on him.

I hadn't thought of that . . . Michael had to tell Walt what he had done ao Walt would understand why they had to change their names and couldn't tell the authorities about the rest of the survivors.
So on the island, in order to protect his son, Michael murdered two people, freed the Lostee's nemesis, and abandoned the rest of the survivors. Then in order to protect himself, once he gets his son home safely, he burdens his son with the discomforting knowledge that daddy murdered two innocent people to free him, he forces his son into a position of also abandoning the rest of the survivors in order to protect his father and besides everything else... he left Vincent behind.
At this point I think Michael is trying to unring the bell.
