I just couldn't contain myself.

No Mame I did not! I thought it was going in another direction.

What I did see coming was everything else, but not that. And I feel pretty sure about one other thing but I have to wait until next week for confirmation.

I knew that's what Sayid believed his purpose to be...I just did not expect him to succeed, and so quickly!

But we know he (Ben) had made contact with Richard Alpert so there is more to come with that story line. Perhaps Ben is not dead, much like Locke when he was shot by Ben years later,by some freak stroke of luck. As we know luck in this show is not a "positive".

FOREMAN: Right. Okay, so, what? We're gonna go back and kill Hitler?

CHANG: Don't be absurd. There are rules, rules that can't be broken.

A temporal paradox is a "paradoxical situation in which a time traveler causes, through actions in the past, the exclusion of the possibility of the time travel that allowed those actions to be taken". One such temporal paradox is known as the Grandfather Paradox. This paradox relates to the questions raised if a time traveller killed his own grandfather before the traveller's father was fathered. Would the traveller cease to exist? And if the traveller did cease to exist, then who killed the grandfather?

Agreed, what Sayid did was something that had ALWAYS been a part of history, which means that it necessitates Ben's survival and may even be what ends up giving him his Buggy-eyed charm.

On one hand, my gut instinct leads me to believe that Ben isn't really dead. Until proven otherwise, I will keep believing Faraday's theory that you can't change what already happened, meaning Ben is meant to grow up and lead the Dharma purge.

On the other hand, perhaps Ben is dead, and this alters certain aspects of the future. Perhaps the purge will never take place, and the Dharma initiative stays around for a much longer period of time.

I'm still curious about Sun and Lapidus' visit to Dharmaville/Otherton. The barracks were visibly covered in Dharma Initiative paraphernalia, which hints to me that perhaps a new timeline was created in which no purge was led, and the Hostiles never took over the Dharma stations or barracks. Ben's death at the hands of Sayid could have prevented the purge from ever taking place, and created a new timeline where Dharma never gets wiped out (at least not under those circumstances).

sort of like old biff going back in time to 1950 to give young biff the sports almanac thus creating a new time line that sends 1980's hill valley out of control. :-)

maybe young Bens body gets reinhabited by something on the island. We know he had made contact with Richard and was being encouraged to wait for the right time to escape which he thought was through Sayid. I wonder, this is out there, if his body gets reinhabited like Christian Shepards.Young Ben was simply an abused, motherless child stuck on an isalnd with crazy Dharma people. He didn't seem too evil to me. It seems like Big Ben set Sayid up to feel like a natural killer to ensure that he would pull the trigger on young Ben. If this didn't take place then Ben doesn't become the evil man he becomes. He had to make sure his body gets reinhabited and the purge takes place. He killed his father in the Dharma van as I recall as an adult Ben .I'm rambling but I think there is something to the dead bodies being reinhabited.
