Question?

Has anyone ever made or seen a diagram of how the lives of the characteers intersect?

The dogma is that we all know each other through approximately 6 people (although I've heard this research disputed so that it might be actually be more). However if the connections between the lostees (all seem to be connected) are less then 6 then the fact that they are all together is no accident.

I always understood the "6 degrees" concept to be that we are connected to everyone by 6 degrees or less.

The easiest way is to think of handshakes. If we shake hands, we are not separated at all. If I shake hands with pagecarl and he shakes hands with you, then we are separated by one degree.

This may not sound too impressive at first, but think of the number of people whose hand you have shaken throughout your entire life. I am connected to Queen Elizabeth by one degree (I shook hands with Pres. Bush (Sr), and he shook hands with the Queen). So, less than 6 degrees would be normal for most connections between various peoples.

And, think about this: apply the concept to historical figures. How many handshakes are you away from Napoleon? Or Abraham Lincoln? Six degrees could take you back several hundred years. Smiler

Angie, I thought the same thing about Jack's dad also being Claire's dad. It fits--Claire is blonde and Australian.

I wondered about that too...Blonde, Australian, and definitely younger. Whoever his daughter was, she was young enough to still be living at home with her parents.

BUT - Didn't Claire move in with her boyfriend in her backstory once they realized she was pregnant? We don't know how long Christian was in Australia, but I assume it wasn't long enough for Claire to have found out she was pregnant, moved in with her boyfriend, her boyfriend to have left her, visited the psychic, be 7+ months pregnant, and on the same Oceanic Flight as everyone else heading to LA to meet Aaron's adoptive parents.

The lady at the door never answered the question. At least not that I remember. Maybe the mother just didn't want to tell him where Claire was.

She didn't have to be at the house, that's just the only place he knew to look.
