What makes Richard and friends immune to the island time jumps? Richard is an enigma and seems to be immune to time itself so I’ll give him a free pass. How about the “band of merry hostiles” that surrounded Richard and Locke? Let’s say that they are equal to the Alpert puzzle so I’ll give them a free pass too.
Juliet is jumping, so the post Dharma people recruited by Ben should be lost in time as well. Unless there was a temporal lock down procedure that has already taken place that we are unaware of. Reversal of this procedure can only occur when branded with the Cadbury's Creme Eggs symbol on the small off your back. It should be noted that Juliet’s mark does share the same amount of spokes as the frozen donkey wheel. I guess my real question is this: Are Cindy and the kids going through the same time chaos? If not why? The other thought was Rose, Bernard, and Frogurt should have witnessed the return of the beach camp. When Faraday and friends reached the Hatch there was only the Hatch hole. So the beach camp or traces of it should have been visible (depending on how far in the future they went). Right? My brain hurts and I hope it continues throughout this season. I missed this feeling. |

I'm with you on the brain aching.
My guess is that Richard and his people are essentially part of the island, so they move with it. My problem with the whole time traveling thing is their clothes and possessions. All of their stuff at the beach disappeared. However, the clothes they were wearing stayed in the present? (as well as the little Zodiac boat) When they skip through time, their clothes should remain where they were, in my opinion. Just because they were wearing their clothes doesn't mean that they are a part of them. Maybe I just want to see the whole cast naked :P |

I love the time-travel jump although now I can see why those left behind are going to have a rough go of it. I thought I might have nightmares about flaming arrows last night.
The jumping time on the island opens up new possibilities like...maybe Ben met the crashees when he was younger. Maybe Charlotte's out of sync with the rest of them because she's also been on the island at a different age. And maybe, just maybe the time-jumping survivors will end up helping themselves on the linear timeline after the crash - with or without knowing it. Finally, aren't we just ripe for another prehistoric bird appearance - or maybe a dinosaur. |

anyone wonder if maybe the whispers that are heard sometimes in the background are the Others purposely time jumping? i mean, we know that the whispers are the Others and the whispers seem to be english spoken backwards. so is it possible that they're backwards because the Others are under orders by ben or jacob (through ben) to travel back for whatever reason?
also is it possible that when alpert told locke to give him the compass the next time they meet alpert meant when locke was a young boy? maybe dying when you're part of the island (as locke seems to be) gives you the opportunity to repeat your life but with a vague idea of what you had to do. like a really really fuzzy outline of your plans. the lost game ended in a kind of similar way. repeating events. and what if faraday's string of time is really a circle? that's the only explanation i can think of for alpert to insist locke give him a compass the next time they meet. anyone remember the scene of lock as a child being tested by alpert? it's a simple way to explain a situation so complicated between a child and an adult. |

Juliet can be seen naked quite a bit in the movie "Gia." Bonus? Starring in the movie as her love interest...Angelina Jolie! OK, OK...my real contribution to last night's festivities: Anyone else notice in the 1 hr recap that Carlton Cuse said Sun "believed" she saw Jin die? Not to mention there are never any CGI people on the deck of the cartoon freighter every time they show it blow up. Hmmmmmmmmm... As a side note: I'm kind of over trying to predict what's going to happen on this show. I don't think I've seen even 1% of anything that's been reasonably guessed at as panning out. I did enjoy last night's episode a lot, and am looking forward to the rest of the season...just from a different perspective. |

Yes That struck me too, that Cuse said Sun "believed" she saw Jin die.

I assumed it was in case Locke jumped back to a time before Alpert knew Locke - so Locke could prove he knew Alpert at some point in the future timeline. Alpert, knowing whatever he knows about the time-shifting, would recognize the compass, and understand that this guy would be a friend in the future. |

Since Alpert has known Locke since Locke was born, it seems Locke will skip back in time to a point previous to Alpert meeting him.
