Evidently, all they did was film 3 different people in the coffin so the real answer wouldn't get leaked. The alternates were:
*drum roll* Sawyer Desmond Given those choices, I'm glad it was Locke. But I bet he'll come back to life, that's why he has to be brought back. But we still have to find out why/how he left. |

I'm glad it was Locke as well. Why would Desmond, of all people, want to go back to the island? and Sawyer? I think Kate would be a little more open to going back if Sawyer had been the one telling them that.

I am not sure I like these flash forwards shwing who gets off the island. I always had Locke staying on the island. Or he dies there and his body was taken off.
The flash forwards seem to give a little too much info. |

I agree, I think Lost has 'lost' its way a bit. the shows only real point in my view now is to show us what happened to sawyer and crew. The whole fantasy of what the island is, and where it is, seem a bit flawed now, as we know that people can come and go as they please. as long as they've go the right co ordinates. And the whole "will they get away?" question has been answered already. The show has basically finished, and they've still (it seems to me) got 2 more seasons to fill up with a new, "Oh lets send Jack back to the island again", storyline. im sorry, but bollocks. but i will keep watching.
on a side note... anybody think a spin off show chronicling the origins of the island may follow? |

I have to agree with you. I might've thought there'd be a spin-off, or a mini-series, except I read that the whole 4-toed people thing got nixed by the network for being too weird, and that's why we haven't heard anything else about it. |

If everything that Mizzed is posting in "mac's house" as being from producer interviews on the S3 DVDs, a major premise behind LOST is that of predestination—everyone has a set part to play. I suppose that means that it's FATE, like Charlie that written on his finger tapes, rather than FREE WILL that determines what happens. Some examples of that would be Michael's inability to commit suicide until the island was done w/him. I wasn't happy w/the whole "the island as sentient being" idea & I'm not happy w/the "predestination" idea either. It makes for less compelling watching, IMHO, as all I'm wondering is whether the island will allow such & such to happen rather than "will the efforts of whoever cause such & such to happen." Coupled w/what I think is some backpedaling by TPTB over the rational vs. magical explanation of what goes on in the show, I'm much less enthused about LOST than I was a year ago. Like rhys says, I'll still watch, but it's just to find out what happens to some of the characters. |

Also thought I'd mention the crap special effects in the finale. Very disapointing. The sinking ship looked like an xbox game, and Sayid looking out the side of the chopper at the bullet hole had me in stitches. Proper Thunderbirds. Gerry Anderson style. Alias - saw you made a comment ealswhere about the new Indy film making lost very believable. True That. Not to sound like a rapper.
