Hi everyone,
I heard this great little theory from "The Lost Initiative" which is a web tv program for Sky 1 here in the UK. It is worth a luck and quite funny. http://sky1.sky.com/show/the-lost-initiative Anyway the theory goes like this, they were training the polar bears on the small Island in order to test the Donkey wheel. They were teaching the bears to turn a lever in a classic bahaviourist conditioning model. Google "Pavlov's dogs" for more info. This would explain the polar bear remains in Tunisia. I guess they wanted to make sure that turning the wheel did not have more dire consequences. It is a little silly but it kind of makes sense. Why not a chimpanzee? |

polar bears are notoriously ferocious; they would be an odd choice to import to a tropical island as work animals. I have always thought the polar bear appeared on the island much the same way it appeared in Tunisia...I base that on pretty much nothing. |
